Many times, someone comes by and says there needs to be this or that change in the code. Often, I'm told later that the change wasn't needed after all.

So, if someone comes by and says that some change is needed, and I think it is either a bad idea or requires some horrible hack, I'll hold off on working on it. I usually won't have to it at all.

If I think it's a great idea, I'll probably find some way to stick the change in somehow, even if it has to be configured to be disabled by default.
